At Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, we are not only focused on providing a dream stay, but also on taking steps to take care of our planet. We are proud to say that we have implemented a series of eco-friendly initiatives that not only reduce our ecological footprint, but also give our guests the opportunity to be part of a positive movement.
One of our main initiatives has been to reduce the use of plastics. We have replaced plastic bottles in the rooms with returnable glass drinking water bottles. The soaps used by guests undergo a very specific recycling process to become 100% recycled, disinfected, and pathogen-free bars of soap, which are donated free of charge to low-income communities and vulnerable groups. All our processes also use biodegradable and recyclable materials to keep our ecological footprint as low as possible.
What about waste management? We have implemented a recycling system and have placed special containers in common areas. In addition, our staff is trained to properly separate waste into inorganic, recyclable, hazardous, and special handling waste, which has been assigned to specific suppliers to ensure that it is disposed of in the correct place to avoid contamination and damage to the environment. It is worth mentioning that organic waste is donated to ranches to be used as feed for farm animals, thus being fully utilized and avoiding landfills. We have also carried out awareness and sensitization campaigns to promote a recycling culture among our guests and employees.
On the other hand, we care deeply about the local fauna of the Riviera Maya. Our protocol for the care and protection of the animals that inhabit the area ensures that we maintain a respectful distance from the animals and promote their observation without altering their natural habitat. We implemented a sea turtle conservation and protection program, which consists of the creation of a "turtle camp" to protect nests, eggs, and turtles from predators. This camp is built under the regulations of government environmental authorities, and in which nightly tours are conducted with certified biologists who are responsible for transferring the eggs to the camp and thus protecting this species.
The camp has two species under its protection: the white turtle and the loggerhead turtle. During the last nesting season in 2022, 411 sea turtle nests, 45,833 eggs were protected and 38,053 baby turtles were released into the sea.
At Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, we are also evaluating the possibility of installing solar panels to generate part of the energy used in the hotel. This will allow us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Finally, we take our responsibility as a company very seriously and are committed to sustainability in all areas of our business. We work with local suppliers and support social and sustainable development projects in the local community. For example, we have implemented a program called "Sustainable Heroes" with the help of our green team. The program consists of visiting schools and carrying out maintenance improvement activities, providing environmental education for teachers and students on topics such as water and energy conservation, as well as teaching good environmental and hygiene practices. This program has received recognition from the international Earth Check certification called "Best Practice".
By staying at Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, guests can be assured that they are contributing to the protection of the environment and the support of the local community. In addition, our sustainable lodging experience can be educational and enriching, as you learn about eco-friendly practices and how they can be applied in your daily life.
In short, Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is the perfect place for those looking for a unique and memorable stay while contributing to a more sustainable future! Join us in our commitment to sustainability and enjoy an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Riviera Maya!
